The Arctic Business Index project aims to enhance understanding of both the opportunities and challenges tied to sustainable economic development in the Arctic. By developing robust analytical tools and fostering inclusive dialogue among Arctic stakeholders, the project will provide reliable, evidence-based insights to inform decision-making by international institutions, national and regional authorities, investors, educators, media, and Arctic communities themselves.

At its core, the project aspires to promote a more sustainable and inclusive vision for Arctic development—one that reflects the lived realities of local populations, including youth and Indigenous Peoples. Among its key outcomes, the Arctic Business Index will:

  • Improved fact- and knowledge-based analysis of sustainable development in the Arctic
  • Established arena for co-ordination and dialogue on sustainable development in the Arctic
  • Inclusion of local, youth, and indigenous perspectives into knowledge base for sustainable development in the Arctic

The project will align with existing initiatives such as the ECONOR reports, contributing data and analysis on Arctic Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), resilience indicators, and youth entrepreneurship. It will generate and share accessible information on value creation, labor markets, investment trends, and business development—while addressing broader themes of sustainability and the resilience of Arctic communities in a rapidly changing world.
